Two Million BLACK+DECKER Steamers Recalled After Burn Injuries #

Two million Black+Decker steamers have been recalled after more than 80 reports of burn injuries, according to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission. The steamers are at risk of expelling, spraying, or leaking hot water during use, posing a danger to users. The recall was expanded to include 1.6 million more steamers, in addition to the 500,000 that were recalled in November 2022. Since the original recall, there have been 317 reports of hot water expelling from the steamers, resulting in 82 burn injuries. The recall applies to all BLACK+DECKER Model HGS011 Easy Garment Steamers sold in various colors. Customers are advised to stop using the steamers and contact Empower Brands for a refund if they are affected. The steamers were sold in popular retailers such as Walmart, Target, Amazon, and Bed Bath & Beyond, with prices ranging from $14 to $23 between June 2021 and February 2024.
